We ask for your bill before we look at your roof
Most solar quotes begin with how many panels fit. That produces a number quickly and it answers the wrong question. What decides whether a system pays for itself is how much of its output you use yourself — and that is a question about your household, not your slates. So the first thing we want is your annual kWh figure, and ideally half-hourly data from your smart meter. It costs you five minutes and it is the difference between a system that fits and a system that merely exports cheaply.
We measure shading rather than guessing it
One shaded panel can drag down everything wired in series with it, and shade moves through the day and through the year. We survey it properly, plan the strings around it, and fit optimisers where the geometry genuinely calls for them — not as a line item on every quote.
The quote is the price
Fixed in writing before any work begins, after a free on-site survey. Panels, inverter, battery, mounting, scaffolding, electrical work and the network operator application, all itemised. Nothing added afterwards.
We model honestly
Generation is modelled using the standard MCS methodology against your actual roof. Battery performance is modelled on realistic round-trip efficiency and usable capacity, not nameplate figures. If the numbers do not work, we will say so before a survey rather than after one.
We handle the network operator and the certification
G98 notification or G99 approval, submitted by us, with the response time built into the programme. MCS registration on completion, because you need it to claim an export tariff. Electrical certification to the current wiring regulations comes as part of the job.
We tell you about the roof
Panels are up there for twenty-five years or more. If the covering underneath has a few years left in it, you should hear that before we fix rails to it, not after. It is an awkward conversation that saves an expensive one.
What actually happens
Five stages — and we ask for your electricity bill before we ask about your roof.
An annual kWh figure from a bill, and ideally half-hourly data from your smart meter. This is the stage that decides the system. A house that is empty until six needs a different design from one with someone home all day.
FreeOrientation, pitch, covering condition, rafter spacing, and shading measured through the day rather than guessed at from the pavement. We also check the loft, the supply, and where an inverter and battery can sensibly live.
On siteArray layout, inverter and battery sizing, a modelled annual yield and a self-consumption estimate specific to you — itemised and fixed in writing before anything is ordered.
Fixed in writingScaffold goes up a day or so before and comes down a day or so after. Most domestic installations are on and off the roof within one to two days.
1–2 daysInsulation resistance, polarity, string voltages and currents checked against the design. Monitoring is set up on your phone before we leave and we walk you through it.
CommissioningMCS registration on completion, the network operator notified, and your electrical certification issued — the paperwork you need to apply for an export tariff, handled by us.

FAQs
Why do you want my electricity bill before quoting? +
Because the value of a solar system comes mostly from the electricity you use yourself rather than the electricity you export. Two houses with identical roofs and identical arrays can have very different paybacks depending on when the occupants are actually at home. Your annual kWh figure, and ideally half-hourly smart meter data, is what tells us that.
Is the survey free, and is there any obligation? +
The survey is free and there is no obligation. If the modelling suggests the numbers do not work for your property, we will tell you that before a survey rather than after one.
Can the quoted price change once work starts? +
No. The price is fixed in writing after the on-site survey and covers panels, inverter, battery, mounting system, scaffolding, electrical work and the network operator application. The purpose of surveying before quoting is so that nothing needs adding later.
What if my roof needs work first? +
We will tell you. Panels are on a roof for twenty-five years or more, and fixing rails to a covering with only a few years left in it creates an expensive problem later. If we think the roof should be dealt with first, you will hear it at survey stage.
Do you handle the DNO application and MCS registration? +
Yes. G98 notification or G99 approval is submitted by us with the response time built into the programme, and the installation is registered on the MCS database on completion — which you need in order to apply for a Smart Export Guarantee tariff at all.
